For Donald Glover:

Everyone’s favourite actor/comedian/rapper Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino has been given the nod to play Lando Calrissian in the upcoming standalone Han Solo movie. The internet, and more specifically community fans (so that’s everyone) has hailed the choice as the perfect pick for a character infamously known as the only black guy in the universe. More still, this casting choice has allowed for misgivings surrounding the need for this film to start to be washed away.

For Space Jam and Pokémon

It’s hard to believe it, but both Space Jam and Pokémon are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and because of that, Space Jam and the first Pokémon movie (Mewtwo Strikes Back) will be getting a theatrical re-release. It’s safe to say that I will not pass up a chance to see Michael Jordan’s elastic dunk or sing ‘Brother my Brother’ in the cinema.

For Logan

Nobody would argue that the Wolverine films have been a little lacklustre, and yet Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character is consistently praised and hailed as being one of the most accurate embodiment of a character there has ever been. It is, therefore, a pleasant surprise to see the trailer for the new and final Wolverine film Logan appearing very interesting and (hopefully) playing with some interesting and unique ideas. If it sticks the landing when it comes out next year, then it will be the perfect send off for Jackman.

For Deadpool fans

There hasn’t been that much bad news for movie fans this week, but there was the unfortunate announcement that director Tim Miller will not return to direct Deadpool 2, reportedly hitting creative differences with Ryan Reynolds. It’s unclear what it was exactly the two disagreed on, but it must have been significant enough for them to part ways, and left us all thinking who is more integral to the sequel of the two. Regardless, at least we can say we got one good Deadpool film right?
